I'm glad you like it!
I like that it is easy to read and figure out whether you want to read more. I wish it took up less space. Makes me a little crowded but I'm okay scrolling.
Again though, glad you like it! You're the FIRST!
Jen, today another "Jen" joined the Society. We now have 13 "Jen" members. There are only 2 "Jen" who have not adjusted their screen name. Again just the suggestion that you might also wish to adjust your screen name.
Jen, There are now 10 "Jen" who are members of the group. Some of them have adjusted their screen name and some, such as you, have not. It just a suggestion that you might wish to adjust your screen name. Only a thought.
Hello Jen! I have been lost for a month or so... how are you ? Are you working out at Risners? You really need to fill me in on what you are doing. I'm ready to get in work out mode! and eat out mode, of course, always :)
one more expense we just found out (well we knew about it but didnt expect it to be so much) to hire a mover to move our furniture its going to cost us $750 dollars, we have a few very large pieces of furniture so we cant really do it without movers.
aaah... I love kickin' some butt with Zumba! I'm glad that you enjoy my class! I'm looking forward to joining Lunch Ladies lunch! :) Make sure to come say 'hi' to me the next time you're in my class... I love meeting new faces!
the electric and stuff deposits are part of your initial deposit made to the person you will be renting from. but you have to pay your bills separately, some people negotiate some bills into the rent but for things that can get expensive like water and electric it's unlikely that you'd have that included in rent.
the person you are renting from will give you a piece of paper that lists all the depoits you put down, first/last month rent, water, electric, gas, phone, once your moved in you take that paper to base housing and they file a claim and you get all that money back.
i dont know how advanced pay works we didnt do it because my husband didnt want to.
ask all the questions you want, i'm babysitting so i'm up, and they dont have TV so i'm just sort of doing homework :)
everyone gets a monthly utility allowance that i think is around $750. i spoke to a woman that has a house comparable in size to the one were getting and she said that she can keep her bills lower than that in the summer if she's carefull about turning off AC's when she's not in a room. turning off the lights/tv stuff like that, in the winter she says it's really easy to cash in a few extra bucks, but she saves them in case she goes over in the summer.
our rent is our BAH exactly. usually the agencies wont show you houses over your BAH. and sometimes you can negotiate some lower cost utilities into your lease, were going to try to get our trash covered in ours when we go in next week to sign our lease.
you can go to base housing and get the format for a letter thats called an Excaption to Policy letter, your husband will have to take it and using their format type a letter as to why you are requestion to move early, if you are before your year, we were going to do this about a month and a half ago, but they told us it takes at least 6 weeks to go through the chain of command, and then we'd be at our year mark anyway.
as for the paying, yeah you have to pay everything up front, for us my husband's a SSGT so his BAH is 210000¥ but were moving in the middle of the month so our deposits are a little less than if you moved at the beginning of the month ours are around $4000 before exchange rate (so at least 200 more since the rate sucks) i think they say take your BAH x2 + about 500 for deposits on trash and phone. thats what you need to move.
we've been saving for a while because we'd rather pay up front, if your ahead of the game you can request advanced pay, but my husband really didnt want to do that, which is why we've been eating like starving college students for three months and saving every cent we can spare from each paycheck.
you do get everything back, all your deposits and renter fees but you cant process that paperwork until you our out of base housing, and from that day it takes about 2 weeks then it appears on your next paycheck. so we move on the 16th hopefully we'll have money again by mid March :)
if you have any more questions let me know. i'll help anyway i can, i know alot of people dont move off base because it's expensive but i'm pretty positive it'll be worth it, our house is 3 times as big as the tiny apartment base housing has us in (were in the tiny places behind the shopette) plus now we'll have a yard for our dog, which we dont have now.
I want to get out and enjoy this place before my time is up. I love to try new things and I hate to sit still for too long. I am really home sick and believe that if you keep busy the time will pass quickly.
I have three boys, one 11 and twins that are 7. My oldest is playing tackle football with the Okinawa league. One of my twins is playing flag football on Kadena and my other is waiting for soccer to start.
