Hi Michele, my son was too young for pre-school. But he did go to a Japanese daycare. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED that experience for him. A friend of mine has had a wonderful experience with a pre-school/kindergarten called Kubato. There are two of the...
Kelly,Let's do the following. I will purchase the book from you and you pay the postage to ship it to the 1,000 member when they join. That way we both contribute to the gift. Just send me a paypal invoice for the cost of the book - you have my e-mail address. When the 1,000 member is known I will ask Meredith to advise you as to the address to which the book is to be sent. Is this agreeable with you???
Kelly, this group now has 960 members. I asked of Meredith what could be done for the new member who will be number 1,000. She and the editors are thinking about the 1,000 member. I would like to pay for a copy of your book to be given to the 1,000 member. Do you think this can be arranged?
Kelly, here are some additional comments from my grandaughter that I wanted to share. I have also sent these comments to Carmen.
Dear Grandpa,
I feel bad its just that I am in culture class and it is drilled in your head so many things about the Okinawin culture and shishi dogs is one of them. I know what the illistrater was doing by having the dogs have the look they did. I am 12 and understand the book and the dogs not wanting Takako to escape but i believe there could have been away that one dog could have expressed itself with its mouth open. You asked me for a 12 year olds opinion and thats what I think.
Love,
Kalyn
I forgot to say in my last email that after taking art class i learned that almost anything could be said threw the eyes so one dog(with its mouth open) could have expressed his not wanting Takako to leeave with his mouth open and a look through the eyes.
Kelly, Just wanted to share with you & Carmen my grandaughters (age 11) thoughts about Takako & The Great Typhoon. Here is her recent e-mail:
Dear Grandpa and Grandma,
I just got my cast off on Friday (our time). It feels really good to see my hand again. My finger is still stiff but I have to move it around every once and awhile. I am going back to piano, and I started playing soccer agian. I have not read the Twilight series yet I am reading a book called the Giver. Once I am fininshed with that I am going to start Twilight. I want to see the movie but I want to read the book first. I have not read any of the How to Survive Middle school books. Do they look fun to read? I went babysitting on Sunday for the first time well not Donald or the twins. It was fun. Maggie payed me good money. I have to save it though. Did you get the coffee that we sent you if so did you try it? Were we got the coffee from was a coffee farm. It was really fun I am not allowed to drink coffee so I drank hot coco. (With a chicken).. The book Takako is relly good I really like it, it is very cute. My favorite pictures are if you count the title page as number 1. 10, and 11 is one of my favorite's even though the illasrater is wrong because the two shi shi dogs's in the background both have there mouths closed.. Only one is supposed to have their mouth closed while the other dog is supposed to have the mouth open. It has to do with the spirts. My other favorite is numbers 16, and 17. The ones with the Tiko drums. Will that is all I have to say. BYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love,
Kelly, disregard my request for directions. Tom has sent me some very good info that I have sent on to my daught-in-law, Kristyn. Thank you for thinking about my request. Have a good cup of coffee today.
Kelly, maybe you can help me assist my daughter-in-law. My step-son and family, during School's Spring Break be staying on Camp Schwam for a week. Kristyn just e-mailed me that if I could get her directions from Camp Schwam to Hiro Coffee Farm, the family would try to get to the coffee farm sometime during their stay on Camp Schwam and get some Okinawa Coffee beans to send to me.
Could you send me directions from Camp Schwam to Hiro Coffee Farm and I will send them to Kristyn. If you do not have the directions, who do suggest that I contact.
Kelly you should join the Lunch Ladies group. We get together and eat somewhere off base once a week or so. It would be a great way to try out some places on your list. So far we have stuck to what we know from Okinawa Hai. The ladies are all really nice the other Heather and Joelle are both part of the group!
Since your last posting to your coffee blog, I have had the pleasure of brewing the following: Sumatra Mandheling and Brazil Yellow Bourbon beans. Once you're back to posting to your coffee blog, I'll continue to add info as to what beans that I am currently brewing. Realize that you are busy with regular activites and regular postings but I do enjoy sharing your coffee blog.
