We were handed options REALLY fast. Before we wanted them, actually! We already had approval from command to live out in town and got here a few weeks before Aug 1st so we wanted to check out off-base places, too. This was literally only after we ...
Well as the new regulations state that you have to live on base due to low occupancy rates it should be immediately! I've spoken to a few people who have moved in the past few months and they were basically handed two options as soon as they walke...
We will be there in late August 2009 and we just got our orders. I am wondering if anyone has any idea how long the wait is for a SNCO on Kadena housing. I think he is an E7. I am trying to settle nerves.
Wellbutrin I will have to remember that. Good information. I am glad you posted this info. Good luck.... with your move. Never forget that worries are wasted energy. I know that is easier said than done but it helps me.
We have an assignment and we have been told we are moving in August 2009. Orders are processing now. My husband is an E7 and we are thinking of living on base. My husband is at Macdill AFB now and he will work at the Air refueling squadron although I do not think it is called that in Kadena. I have 2 kids 8 and 12. A boy and a girl. One in 2nd and one in 7th. My biggest question today is what to bring and what not to bring. Although pics of on base housing are what i look at most to see. I have some wonderful connections in Okinawa but there is so much you need to know. I just want it to be a smooth move for my family. I have been an Air Force spouse for almost 16 years.
How did you find us?
I googled okinawa hai and I stumbled on it.

In our housing we have air conditioners in every room. They work great.
Until you work full time you should sub. It is a great way to make some money, stay busy and network.
Either way you guys are going to be fine. It is really a lot of fun here. We love our housing now. We have a huge kitchen and more space than I thought we would.
Hi, it is really a strange situation that has come up. There is an abundance of housing they say and that is why they have stopped the living off base. I would make up your mind that you HAVE to live on base. Then if something changes like all things military do. Then it will be a welcome surprise. The senior enlisted housing has a huge range. Some is really great and right by the school. Some is older and they would take the bus.
You have been a spouse for 16 years. We both know sometimes they make some crappy rules. We adjust and drive on. Truth be told I crawled in the bed at the hotel and teared up telling my husband "I don't want to live in a multi-plex with crazy people."
It has been fine. I mean sheez there are only one maybe two crazies! (-:
haha
If you really hated it you could probably be able to move off in a year. 20 bucks says in a year things will change.
I lived in the old as crap Apt. on MacDill. After that I could live anywhere. Did they tear those all down now?
Good luck, let me know when you get here and how things go.
Welcome,
We were at MacDill for a fw years around 2000. My husband is from Port Tampa so he loved it.
