Ditto to what they said...the reason they are making everyone live ON base is b.c they have so many empty units so what would they be making you wait for? And if so then yes you would be eligible to live off base. DOnt stress too much about it for...

Give us some details!
We arrived here in Okinawa in February 2009. I am here with my older daughter who is 15 yrs old and goes to Kubasaki HS, my baby daughter who is a little over a year old now and my hubby who has been in the Marines for 12 years now.

We are looking forward to exploring the island...seeing the sights and trying out the restaurants.

We live on base...Camp Lester to be exact. I am a SAHM right now and I am looking forward to meeting some people and making some friends here.

hey- did your daughter ever manage to find out more about the pottery places on Kadena and Foster? Or work out a time that she could go in there? It is such an awesome opportunity for her (or anyone else interested), I hope she was able to work it out. Just wondering.

hey-yep, that was/is me talking about clay. A couple of us have started getting together on Tuesdays over at the ceramics/pottery studio on Kadena. Apparently the existence of this place is new to everyone! There is also one on Foster, but the one on Kadena is much larger and nicer. You buy your own 25 lb bag of clay (and that is a lot of clay) for around 13-17$ and then there is 2$ per hour shop fee, which they sometimes charge you, and sometimes don't. There are also glazing and firing fees, but I haven't gotten that far yet. I want to say it is a few cents per inch measured on the longest side. It is in the arts and crafts building on Kadena across the street from the commissary and PX. You'll have to contact them (959-4258) to see what their age policy is. I can't remember if you've told me how old your daughter is, I just know that she was old enough to get a job over the summer. Swing by there anytime to check it out, or come by on Tuesday morning after 10 and say hi to a couple of OH ladies. If there are any other questions I can (maybe) answer, just let me know.

Hey Girl hope you are doing well!!!! soooo I have decided that I am just gonna get a crib when I get there I have already put my feelers out with a couple women on okinawa garage sales so keep your fingers crossed!!!! but if worse comes to worse Babby Connor is very easy going and I can pretty much plop him anywhere to sleep and he will lol...and then just get furniture when we get there- I am thinking it will be the flight where we go from NC, to Seattle then Japan I told my husband to tell the Cpl handling the flights to please let her know we are bringing a carseat and two pets! I am also going to have the Hubby take apart Connor's seat it's a fisher price like baby/toddler rocker that vibrates and just put the parts in my suitcase amongst my clothes and when we get there put it together- if worst comes to worst he can always sleep in that! Right now it is such a struggle because the Hubby is not here I can tell him about things that need to be checked on etc... but it is just different then communicationg face to face! He willl be home on the 19th of this month thank God then I can put him to work vacuum sealing all my clothes for TMO lol.....Thank you for everything it is soo appreciated! Hope you are doing well

Hi Sarah. I had heard that the children's section of the Foster library was nice. I will have to check out the program you are talking about. We only have one car right now, so I take my husband in to the office when I need the car. Do you know if the library has programs on other days as well? I would like to get together with you sometime. Are you available next week? I can arrange to have the car or you can come here. We don't have too many toys (still waiting for most of our stuff) but I am sure it would be enough to keep them entertained. Just let me know. :)
