Ronni, you are very sweat in expressing yourself, if you still need more girlfriends, I would be yours as well. I just saw your slide show, and your "sweetheart reminds me on Barak Obama - whom I admire -, lets get together, even I am much older tha…

Hi all. I've met some of you already which is great. As some already know I am on my way to Oki but obviously not there. I am getting closer which is awesome, but I think I feel lonelier for the fact that I have no base/support where I just moved. I…

Hey Ed, I don't know if you can. I still consider myself a newbie to the Island. I just need to get out more often. In my comment I was saying that with a better relationship it would be nice for the government to legalized Cuban cigar

Grace Kelly hit it right on the head. I have one little 1 year old and I'm very uneasy about making friends once I get to Oki. And I believe I said that exact quote " She wouldn't want to hang out with me because I have kids." We all just have to di…

What's your status?
I am on Okinawa
Give us some details!
I was born in Nigeria grew up in Queens N.Y and served four years in U.S Army in Germany. After that I worked as a civilian in Army finance at one point in Naf and the other as a G.S employee. I am now a fulltime student in Okinawa with UMUC and looking forward to receiving my B.A in May and attending Officer training in the fall(yep! I’m a sucker for the military). I just got married to a service member in the Air Force. Married life is very new to me as is the Air Force culture. It's difficult, but in some ways easy; I have so much respect for all military spouses. I’m trying to learn as much as I can while trying to have as much fun as I can… especially before we have children! I enjoy going out to clubs and other social events such as tours, concerts, and comedy shows. I think this is a really beautiful island from what I’ve seen so far. We were fortunate to find an apartment in Sunabe that’s right in front of a beach… I feel like I’m on vacation every day! Before arriving here, we were in Germany... oh how I miss it (except for the weather)! I didn't know it would be so hard to start over as far as making good friends. But I’m optimistic that those things will come with time. I'm just glad I ran into this site!

Making friends: Have you ever felt this way?

I've been browsing around on this site and I see that a major thing that people tend to have in common is that they have children. It's nice to see that, but I feel somewhat left out. It's not that I don't want to be friends with someone who has children; in fact, I love children. I have an adorable niece and I love her as if she were my own. It's just that I'm a newlywed and I don't have any children of my own yet. I don't plan on having kids any time soon because my husbands and I intend to ac… Continue

Just wanted to say hey. I have made a lil progress, I got my no fee passport done. They said it should take 5-6 weeks to complete but it might be sooner. Having a lil problem with the medical clearance tho. But my husband is back on the island trying to take care of stuff but he's find issues left and right also. Ugh it's such a headache and I have a feeling it's not supposed to be. O well, I hope all is well with you. TTYL

"Take care of those teeth"? I'm a moron. Those teeth are GONE, now. Okay, take care of the painful empty sockets and stay away from those straws!

Is that better? :-) Hope you feel better soon!

OW girl! I know ALL about the wisdom tooth surgery! I just had mine done several months ago. Last week, I had my front teeth all filed down for crowns. Today I had another one filed down on the bottom. Next week, I go for more. Ugh! At least I can finally smile without looking like a dork. I'm trying to get all this dental work done before we get to Okinawa. We're pushing for an extension on our orders but don't know if we'll get it. If not, we'll be there by April 1st.

Take care of those teeth! I hope they gave you lots of Vicodin. I think I was high as a kite for a week after my surgery - LOL! I remember how much it hurt to laugh, too....so I'll try to hold off on the jokes for now. ;-)

Ronni, at the end of your comment about Cuba, you memtioned Cuban cigars. Just wondering can you obtain Cuban Cigars anywere on Okinawa? Just wondering because I am aware that they are available in some locations on mainland Japan.

Hey! How are you doing? I hope your wisdom teeth didn't give you too many troubles. If you still aren't on solids, SuSuSoon in the seawall area makes incredible mango shakes! I'm sure there are directions on Okinawa Hai, but it's very close to gate 1. Feel better, Amy

There really aren't any qualifications to join "Right" - Anyone is welcome as long as it doesn't turn into a big, mean political debate with name-calling. :-) I started that group because it seemed like the other group was going to start venturing that way. You can only have people with extreme differences of opinion in a room together for so long before it gets heated. When it comes to politics, sometimes it's better to just keep it separate. A bi-partisan view would be great, though! I lean more to the right, but I can still understand some of the points of view of the other side...and for the most part I'm tolerant.

I'm glad you liked the comment. See? Moms can be cool, too. If baby puke were a measure of how hip you were, I would be Miles Davis. Haha!

Hey again! I just got back from Foster Furniture picking up a rug and they've gotten a shipment of mirrors. There were about 15 of them (all the same). They have a medium brown wooden frame around them and they say door mirrors, although I looked at the back and didn't see the hanging mechanism. I think they were around $18. Hope this helps. Amy
