All the housing is based off the Air Force definition of Jr. or Sr. enlisted, so E1-6 is Jr. and 7-9 are Sr. This was confusing to us since the MC considers my husband a Sr. enlisted as an E6 but we are in Jr. housing. Lester does have the Naval hos…

Howdy! I live on Camp Shields and they are in the process of renovating some units here. I had a rocky start here but it's not so bad and it's much bigger than what I was told to expect. I had a Marine SGT Major across the street, several Airmen and…

yeah, they always put up those TCCOR warnings and it looks bad on the satellites, but I don't think it will be much to worry about. They always take a hard turn to the left or right. Either nailing Taiwan (not happening this time, but was one after…

Just ONCE I'd like to walk up to the correct side of my car.... *sigh* -- or when you're on a road alone and find yourself back on the right side...LOL...I never had any fears of driving here; but we lived in england for 3yrs so I kind of already ha…

the worst thing though, is that you have this habit of looking in a particular direction for traffic/movement (like when you are pulling out into a road or crossing an intersection). You keep looking in that particular direction out of habit (well-e…

haha- yeah, you can get those in Jusco or Makeman or a lot of other places. I sent a pair of the "senior driver" decals to my parents. You should go check out the inside of an AutoBacs someday, if you haven't already. It's pretty wild in there. Alth…

The funny thing was that I wasn't afraid to drive over here at all until we went to the newcomer's brief where we sat through eight hours of, "Everything will be your fault - if a bicyclist runs into your car - it's your fault..." However, I have no…

I live in the towers on Kinser. Yes, they can be made to be a mostly non-repulsive home. You never really escape the cream paint, the lino, and the weird tile schemes. This building feels extremely solid and I have no doubt would ride out a category…

It's okay, Rachael and you have every right to be upset. My husband has been in almost 14 years so I completely understand your frustration. It sucks seeing civilian friends at our ages living in palaces gaining equity while we're told we have to li…

I suck and just saw the date on this thread haha. I see you are getting here soon! Hope everything works out!

Yeah the housing situation sucks. You will request a pet friendly unit. Right now there is no wait for almost all housing so they should honor your request, with at least one choice. You will get 2 options and must choose one of the two. I know a fe…

If you are USMC then he will have to reenlist/or extend(if he has the option) in order to stay there the 3 year accompained tour WHICH he will have to start over if he wants you there with him. If he does not want to reenlist or extend you will be u…

When we arrived, the housing office told us there was no more "live where you work policy" which kept you within a certain mileage of your job. And, like Lea, I know people who live at or around Foster and work on Hansen.

It is actually within 60 minutes of your work. Friends live on Foster but work on Hansen. That is no fun...

The housing office will offer you what is within 30 minutes (subjective when it comes to traffic, HA!) of your husband's duty station. So if he gets a northern base you may be offered a house on McTureous (which is only a housing base but has the el…

We just got here and I was terrified that we would get crappy housing. After living in 1950s housing at our last two bases I just knew we would get something old again! We were offered two places... one renovated pretty nice place on Kadena and a no…

Yes, we are at Sheppard AFB. My husband is in the AF. The process takes awhile, you should probably start very soon. You have to have well baby or physical type appts for you and all kids. Plus dental and school info. Then it gets turned in for review board, THEN sent to Kadena for approval. We are waiting to put our house on the market till that clearance comes through. The board said it could be 3 weeks. That leaves about a month and a half for the house to sell. But if we arent leaving i still need my house!!

Hey Rachel, sorry it took so long for me to reply. Our process is moving incredibly SLOW! We had our interview yesterday for the medical clearance and they said we have 2 strikes against us with the children - asthma and anxiety. How is your process going?

Thank you! I am glad you like the pictures and the article. I honestly couldn't come up with anything else to send him for Father's Day. The picture I posted was one of the only ones I could. The others were a little to personal. LOL! We will have to go out when you get here. How is the move going by the way? I hope the answer is good!

Mine actually works here on Foster. I have a couple friends who have Marine husbands who do work on Futenma. It's extremely close to Foster! Do you have any questions I can answer? We arrived here last summer and I absolutely love it here!

Hi Racheal welcome to Hai Society. If you need anything let me know. My hubby is AF so everything isn't the same but I will help you the best I can. Looks like Bailey (I love her name btw) and Evie are the same age. We will have to get them together after you arrive!
