All of this has been a great insight to me. I suffer from anxiety which leads to me getting depressed. I was treated with behavior therapy before I had my son last September. I decided I didn't like my therapist and quit going. I didn't have a pro...
Renee is right...the problem is less than 5 years ago. Even if it was 4 1/2 yrs ago it would still cause you issues in the process. In all likelyhood this decision won't be overturned. I'm sorry! They're really strict on mental health issues for a...
If your not under cardiologist treatment currently then your heart shouldn't be an issue. I had 2 heart surgerys at 6 months and 3 yrs and because I only have mild Mitral Valve Prolapse now I was cleared...had to get an echo to confirm diagnosis f...
The problem is that your situation is less than 5 years old. Once you have surpassed the 5 years of no treatment, then it isn't an issue. When they say they have no facility, I think what it is is that there is no place to treat you if you have a ...
hello,
i've been reading all your posts, and discovered some good information. We wer stationed in Kadena almost 2 years ago, from there we're here in Incirlik AB, Turkey. My husband found out a few months ago that we got Kadena again. We started ...
We knew after about 5 days if we were cleared. all we got was a phone call from the overseas screener at our hospital that we were cleared and our paperwork was ready to be picked up.
My hubby is a marine, he's stationed on Futenma, but we live on Foster. Sorry, I thought you were AF because you said Kadena. when you filled out all the paperwork for your medical clearance were you specific about the reasons and times. We were l...
We knew after a few days. And I stated that it was a quick turn around for them to mail it out and get it back and they said it doesn't get mailed out. They just review it and that was it. We are AF.

Linda Just an FYI if you bring you dog, make sure they ar eon your orders! If they are on your orders you will pay a $90 ticket fee for the ride, but if they are not on your orders you will pay $500-$3000 for your pet to fly over. Our dog Porsche flew in from WI to OKI last nigt. Our parents had to keep her for 3 months to get the paperwork straightened out. Also make sure the fabvn gets done asap so you have a shorter quarantine time. Good luck!
Hi Linda,Well these agents are in this mess also so, I think they seem like selfish pigs LOL!I waited until I got an offer and was figuring how much I was having to pay out and told him "I"m struggling only to pay your commission"If they want the deal bad enough" You need to put it in a phrase along those lines.Don't be afraid to challenge them.I was in Clovis Nm myself.Small town! Also,Like I mentioned put it for rent at the same time cause they won't make money on that and would raither sale it.It kinda puts that extra pressure on them. That's my feeling.Your flight will be fine over here. Are you bringing pets?Talk soon .Rea
Linda,The AMC rotator is run just like commercial.Flight attedants on a 747 and anything you need there happy to help.I thought we would be in a big green plane sitting on the floor.I swear I did.LOL!!!Rea
Hey Linda,Where are you all coming from?We lived in a housing area where they were building new homes and the competion was tough. We also Had to put out on the loosing end but,I did put alot of pressure on our agent when we had an offer to come off his commission and he did reluctently. Also,we put it up for rent with the same agent so it was for sale or rent.It sold but not without a major struggle.I know that every area is different.Just cross your fingers!!!Driving here made me nervous big time but it's like this. You have to actually focus and think for awhile until you get the hang of it.It Just feels unnatural. You'll get the hang of it.I just went short distances at first. When they say you have to take a driver's test it's pretty much a joke. It's ten questions after a few hours of instruction. That's it!No driving involved. Also,Charity is right AMC travel was pretty easy and yes they feed us alot and kept the movies going. It was'nt bad .Not like I was invisioning(horrible).Hope this gives you some confidence about things.Rea
Hopefully this will make you feel better - one of the girls I've met here flew the MAC/AMC (military) flight over and loved it. She said the flight attendants were great and they even let her keep her small dog out of the kennel on sit on her lap the whole time!
I was so against it that we looked into my husband coming unaccompanied. But since he hadn't been back from Iraq for very long we ditched that idea and I put on my happy face! I loved CA, loved my friends, loved my job. I never thought I would be truly happy here. But I have made so many friends (from Oki Hai!) and we all get together every week to have girl time. Getting over the stress of the move was tough. We had to leave the dogs in the states (have to go back and get them which is soooo expensive!) which was horrible. And I'm not a good flyer so I was dreading the flight. Even flying back and forth from CA to NC didn't prepare me! But it wasn't so bad. Just boring!! We flew commercial so it wasn't too bad. Definitely feel free to ask me any questions you have. Where are you coming from in the states?
Hi Linda! I was TERRIFIED when we first found out we were PCSing here. I dreaded it. Japan was the one place I had zero desire to go. It didn't help that we found out while my husband was in Iraq so we had very little discussion about anything. Everyone who had been here kept saying we would love it but I was determined to be pessimistic! And guess what? There were right!! It's beautiful and there is so much to do. The Okinawan people are nicer than any place I have ever been. We flew commercial and the Japanese in the Osaka airport came up to us anytime we looked confused (which was often!) and helped us without our reaching out to anyone. It's been wonderful although we have only been here since September. We live near 81 and defintely hear the motorcycles and scooters but it's not so bad. No worse than living near a busy road in the states! Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you!
Hi Linda,Well your in the right place for advice and learning about the island.I have been here almost 4 months and started asking questions on this site for atleast 5 months before we got here.I totally understand the selling the home issue we sold ours and closed on it 4 days before we were on a flight to Okinawa.I was pretty freaked out over coming here because of everything that it took to prepare like many of the same reasons you have.Talk about major anxiety.Do you have kids? Also,Do you have pets your bringing? My best advice is to stay calm and push forward alittle everyday.Try and organize your plan and even write it down and check things off as you go.Are you flying AMC?That makes a big difference.Don't really worry about the people here it seems tho me the Japanese seem nicer that alot of Americans here.I think the hardest part about moving here was the worry about the driving and the hot ,humid weather. So,throw more questions and I will help you out even about your home sale or your cars cause I've totally been there.Just relax.Nice chatting.Rea
