I'm not positive it ACTUALLY requires a bachelor's degree. I remember them telling me this, but I can think of some subs off hand who definitely did not have their bachelors yet. I think if they are desperate enough they'll hire any sub they can get.
The pay is a flat rate - $97/day at the moment - and it does not change with your education level. I completed a Masters in Education and got certified to teach math this past year and I was hoping the pay would increase since I was certified but it…
I substituted here at the middle school level. I have never substituted in the States but from what I hear subbing is much easier here than in the States. There are fewer behavioral issues with the kids here. I always had a lot of support from the a…
Dr. Elizabeth Leonard (down at Kinser Clinic) did my OB care and delivery and she was amazing. Her husband (also Dr. Leonard) is at Lester, but I don't have any personal experience with him.
Dr. Hammer from Lester was on call the weekend I had Lucy…
It is easiest on everyone if you are put on his orders before you guys come over here. Have him talk to his detailer or career counselor or whoever is in charge of amending his orders as soon as possible, because it might be a process.

I've been living in Okinawa for two and a half years. I have various "jobs" I keep busy with here, including substitute teaching, math tutoring, teaching college math classes, and photography. I'm working on my Masters degree in Education. My husband just returned from a year long IA deployment, so I'm a pro at being alone.
Great Kristin - thanks so much for letting me know!! I will have to get up to Kadena and find this place to get it checked. It really stinks that they dont have someone "official" to check them or that they dont even tell you where to go for it. Thanks again!
Kristin just wanted to let you know that my hubby went ALL OVER Foster today from one place to another trying to find someone who could check our new car seat installation and NO ONE HERE DOES IT!! Very very frustrating and to be honest pretty darn stupid if you ask me...if they require us to use them here then they need someone to check them out.ARGH!!
Kristin - no i didnt find anyplace BUT i just saw in the AAFES flyer a little info that said the on base fire dept checks car seats...now i know these flyers are not specifically for Okinawa but i would still assume that is where we can go get the car seats checked. It should have occured to us to go there since that is where we went in the states. We are installing our new one (she is turning 1 next week) and will try to go by the fire dept and see if they really do check it. I will let you know what happens.
Hi! I saw an old post of yours and was wondering if you could give me a little more directions on how to get to Sunabe Baba Park?
I'm looking for something with coral and coves, that is nearby...Thanks!
We are getting married in less than 3 weeks! I think I should be freaking out but I am not. Everything is falling into place. I still need unity candles, a memorial candle, a guest book and I need to ensure my sister has her son in the correct tuxedo. He's the ring barer so he needs to match Ryan's tuxedo.
Have wonderful week in Okinawa!

Hey Kristin,
we are always up for baby modeling. Andrew was born at Lester in June. We'll be at the shoot tomorrow for pamelala so be sure to say hi!
Hey Kristin, I am sure a lot of parents won't mind if you give them a CD of images, etc. Post on the actual discussion and I am doing first session on Thurs at 8:45am. I will hopefully see you tomorrow, hope for no rain, just cloudy skies!
