sounds like the place in American Village, also in the ferris wheel building, at the top of the escalator. I went once with Heather and it was good. Had the spicy noodles.

We've only been to 4 places so far. A&W, McDonald's, Coco's, Arashi's. A&W was nasty. My son's "chicken nuggets" tasted like fish. We went to McDonald's because Coco's was busy the day we went. We all got normal stuff. It tasted...well normal. Coc...

Julie - have you tried Tenkai yet? It's one of our favorites in that area. Check out the post I wrote at www.okinawahai.com and type in Tenkai in the search box. This is a great date night place though if you go early enough, right when they open,...

The husband said he didn't like Obligatos, but that doesn't mean others won't. My beef with 4 Seasons is that you get charged about 4x too much for your meal (premium prices for 2nd rate food). We went right before my husband deployed and the wait...

This is awesome input! I am getting hungry just reading. We went to Oblaggato (sp?) today and it was really good, definitely different that we are used to, but in a good way :) Next on the list is sushi and we must go to transit cafe. Really excited!

I feel like a stalker haha but I saw your post about housing... and were you at the vet yesterday? I had my little long haired dachshund. I'm pretty sure you were lol. Your son told me you came from Pensacola. I hope things get better soon! Let me know if you need anything, I don't have kids or a job and I'd be happy to help. :)

Thanks for the picture comment! We just got back from an afternoon at the beach and the "kids" are both asleep in my lap.

I'm at the WiFi spot again. LOL! I would die without internet. I know how you feel about being on the other side, with the still not knowing and all that. Hang in there!

Well, I think that housing is done by lower enlisted, I'm thinking E1-E3 or 4, then E5 and E6, then E7-E9. Not sure how they differ as far as size. I must say that I am very happy with our choice. We had to wait a whole month in the WestPac, but in the end it was worth it! I was mad at first because we got the keys on Thursday, and the fridge in there was horrid and they didn't say anything to us. Well, Friday morning we got to the house and they were there putting in a brand new fridge, stove and washing machine. We also ended up getting new flooring, wood, new screens, everything painted. I think the guy before us lived there a long time. Charity has pics up on the mother page under to live, base housing. I live like right across the street from her, so it's the same. There are quite a few new houses here on foster, too. a lot will depend on where your hubby will work. It is frustrating how you are not recognized as a senior staff. They did say that the rule is though that after you live on base for a year you can move off. That is what the housing office told us, but we had wanted to live on base anyway. A lot of people used to make money by living off base because at one time they paid you what you rated. Then they dropped it to just paying what your rent was.

Oh, and we were offered 3 choices, the Kishaba single house that we took, then a towers, then a multiplex on Lester. My hubby works on Futenma.

I hope I answered your questions. We don't have internet yet and I am at the "Spot" using the WiFi connection there. When are you coming?

We fly out of Seattle in August. ON the 20th to be exact. I am really excited and I get more excited when I get on the web and search. Pictures really help me. I love the fact that it is an island. I can tell you it is not something I ever thought I would say. I am moving to Japan. What????? My family and friends say. Now that is a move for sure. I am from Arkansas and I have friends who have never lived outside of Arkansas. I have only lived in Kansas, Oklahoma and Florida. I guess this will only be my husbands 4th duty station and he has been in 20 years. We will be in Okinawa for 4 years! Pretty Crazy I know other air force spouses who are looking at their 10th PCS. I am new to this moving thing compared to them. Anyway, I am trying to be tough. Do you have kids? We have two. A boy who is 8 and a girl who is 12. I am trying to get them excited about the move. I have never ever heard anyone say they hated it in Okinawa. Actually no one person said anything bad at all about living there. Everyone I know loves it. I have a friend on facebook who lives there now and just got there in May. I have never met her but I was introduced to her via the fb by my good friends who now live in Illinois. It is for sure an interesting world. My friend her name is Amy told me you can get some neat things painted on your toes their. I love to go get a pedicure. Another friend told me about the ITT tours and suggested you should take them all they are very informative and you only need to take them one time then you learn so much and meet people who are new just like you. I have thought about volunteering with the USO. I think that would be very interesting. Is your husband in the Air Force? I guess looking back at you post to me I would say the Navy? But I might not be correct about that either. Sometimes I think I know things and I just have no clue. Anyway, any questions you have let me know. I have a few folks to ask and my husband knows a few more from work. I am very excited. Keep in touch.
