I believe that Santa Monica has a kindergarten program, which, as you say, is not accredited to US standards but is intensive in its curriculum. There hasn't yet been a post about it on Okinawa Hai, but I think it's located in Sunabe, near KAB.

I haven't had any trouble getting books onto my Kindle. It took a little trial and error (the wireless doesn't work unless you're stateside), but I directly connect my Kindle to my computer by USB, then on the Amazon 'manage your Kindle' site I save…

In fact the Moms in Okinawa Meetup Group is getting together tomorrow if you are interested. Candice is the owner (she is also on this site) and she is wonderful. It is a really fun group.
That so stinks about the cutoff date! Good luck with your preschool search. We will have to get the kids together to play sometime. What does your husband do?
