Jen Shue said… - my husband is currently deployed, but I think I'd like my daughter to be at least 4 before I take her to live in a home not of my creating. But, the way things are going, deployments are not ending anytime soon. So, when the next one rolls around this will definitely be on my list. I've always wanted to go to NZ, so maybe I'll do it that way. :)
We're trying to convince my friend to come over here and do this volunteer thing. I think it would be such a great experience for him. Sell his car and just travel through volunteering. I wish I had known about this sort of thing when I was like 23. I've always been one for stopping what I was doing and heading off in new directions (part of how we wound up here!).

- Thanks so much for the info. It looks like a great organisation/network. A friend of mine from the states has pretty well given up on finding a job for now and is cyling/adventuring in the Rockies in the meantime. I told him he should look into doing these kinds of volunteer travel/experience programs. Once my daughter gets a little older I might do this for myself. Thank you, again.

Did you live up there during the week, or come home at night? How long did it last? If you know of any other volunteer work/experience along those lines, I'd be interested to know. Thanks.

- Dasha, as of today the group has 940 members. We're getting close to the 1,000 member very quickly. Maybe we'll reach 1,000 before you leave Oki. Have you heard if anyone else has any ideas what to do to acknowledge the 1,000 member when she/he joins?

Meredith regarding the 1,000 member whatever the group chooses to do to acknowledge the 1,000th should be something if they are on the Island. If they are still in the States maybe something else. Keep me posted as to what the ladies want to do. As in the past I will make a small contribution $$$ to whatever is selected. Keep me in the loop, please.

Off base event to connect Japanese moms with American Moms!
Hey Everyone!
I have a Japanese American friend who is eager to build a bridge between American moms and Japanese Moms. To do this, she is spearheading an international mothers and kids event.
She would love for Americans to participate.
Three ways to get involved:
(1) You can either attend the event (FREE)
(2) Rent a table to showcase your products/wares (for a fee)
