I am not sure about the distemper shots because that was never redone for my cat to come here. My cat was barely a year when we came over here but the vet was worried because she is so tiny for her age that she may have a problem in cargo, tempera...
Ok, so I'm finally back in school. But I know I'm not the only one. Where do others here on island get their higher education? Are you receiving any good grants? What are you studying? What do you like or not like about your program of choice?
The Marine Corps sent my husband and I to here in May from Camp Pendleton, CA. We recently adopted a new puppy to join our cat and the whole family is loving exploring our new home. I am currently a full time student at UMUC and substitute teacher with the DoDDS.
Hey Amanda! Thanks for the request! I apologize it took me so long to accept. We are i the final stages of our PCS and will be there at the end of the month. :) I can't wait to join you girls at your lunches.
Hi Amanda, thanks for your quick response! ;-) It's been a bit of a challenge from: our sponsorship, to housing, and a bit challenging w/making new friends in "exsisting circles" hereon the island, but I do love going out into town and venturing out to the supermarkets and stores!
I've been doing the Water Aerobics here on Kadena and I'm really enjoying it that's what else I've been doing! Its at 8 in the morning and kind of hard to get up that early...which is early for me when I don't go to bed till 2 every night! Trying to be a Busy Bee...LOL!!
That's awesome news about the job...good luck...I heard from the dod school today...but I didn't hear my phone so I will have to call tomorrow! How is the training and stuff so far? Are you liking it? What will you be doing there? Other then that...I'm doing okay...I'm hanging in there only 9 days left till the hubby comes back home..I can't wait...it'll only be 3 weeks but I miss him like crazy!
Hey there. Thats cool about your job. I haven't applied at any of the children centers yet. I am hoping for a GS job or something but we will see how that turns out. LOL.
Yeah we were really surprised how fast we got the internet. We had been hearing people who had to wait 10 days up to two weeks and I was worried we were going to have to wait that long to. But we walked in and she asked us when we wanted it and we said ASAP and they were here last night to hook it up :). We decided to get government furniture because we went out and bought a car with our spare and knew we had the option for government furniture so we decided we will have it for a little while till we find the right living room set for us that we want and buy stuff slowly. We left our old living room set back in the states, but plan on buying a new one either out here or when we get back anyways so this works out. We also decided to get the bedroom stuff for the spare room for guests and what not, so thats nice. :)
Thats really lucky that your husband and you both work on Foster and you live on Foster too. I think our sponsor lives in the Chatan houing over there on Foster. I may be mistaken but its possible. lol I am hoping to either work on Futenma or here on Kadena. But I wouldnt mind working on Foster since its in between the two.
My husband works with H&HS on Futenma. Hes an admin pog :) he works in the s1. My husband and I are high school sweethearts, yeah AWE, lol. We have been together for 6 years and married for 4.
Awe your puppy is so cute. We have 2 dogs. Our first will be 4 in November and we took her to the puppy obedience classes that pet smart held back in the states and they taught us how to teach her and it was great. Then we already knew what we were doing when we got our second puppy, who will be 2 in August. We are looking into having them shipped out here via cargo on a commercial flight (no heat restriction and better care for them) but also like $2000 per dog. You were lucky to be able to bring your cat on the plane with you. We were thinking for how much they are trying to charge for us to fly our dogs cargo, we might as well just get them their own seat on a commercial flight. lol
um hobbies...I like to scrap book but haven't in a while, been too crazy busy. I also don't have my stuff (lol I too am counting down the days. I am not a very patient person either, we have 27 days till our HHG shipment is here!! lol) I like to read. I am trying to get into working out, I had just gotten a personal trainer at our gym back in the states when we found out we were coming here so that didn't last long but I really want to start working out more. Um When my dogs are here I will want to do stuff with them, take them to the dog park (if there is one) and take them to the beach, if they are allowed. Other than that my husband and I are pretty laid back. We like to hang out, go out or stay in. We are big game people. Whether it be board games, card games or video games. lol We are really excited to explore the Island and hopefully get the chance to travel a little while we are here too.
Oh school, I do currently go to school, online. Thats another big reason we were happy to have internet so quickly. I will graduate with my BA in criminal justice in February actually so thats exciting. Depending on the job I get, I will probably continue onto my masters while being out here. Right now I have my AA in business. Do you go to school? Are you planning on going to school if you don't already? What kind of hobbies do you and your husband have? lol
Hey, we got settled in our house. Kind of :) We have internet...kind of lol. They came and hooked up the modem and it works fine but for some reason we can't get the router to work so hopefully we can get that figured out today. We got our government furniture yesterday so that has been nice at least the house isn't as empty and it will make the wait till August 12th go a little smoother. LOL
What kind of job did you get, wheres it at and how long did it take you to get a job? If you don't mind me asking...lol I am in the process of doing all the paperwork and applications and what not to try and get a job and it just seems like so much and I feel like it will take me forever considering I am not the only person coming to the island looking at these jobs that are available. lol
Whats your husband do? How long have you guys been together? I see you have a new puppy, he/she is sooo cute. I can't wait for our puppies (well dogs but they are our puppies :) ) to get out here. Right now we are waiting on the heat limitations before we fly them out here.
Um..I think thats it out of me for right now. Lol sorry for ambushing you with questions :) its how I do...haha ok Ill talk to you later. Take care.
Hey, thanks for responding. I am excited that you aren't bombarded or felt weird about me mentioning you not having kids. I also joined this group hoping to find other couples that don't have kids. We are in the process of 'not preventing' for kids but having medical problems with that. But its hard to find adult friends who don't have kids, everybody wants to have play dates or outings with kids. Those are fun, but I like to have quiet adult time, or well time where only the adults are loud lol.
But yeah we are moving into our place today so won't have internet for a bit I think. LOL not sure how long that takes. I am also looking for a job. Hopefully that will come easy.
I don't think I am going to go to the movie on Wednesday because I have already seen that movie and thats also the day we get all our furniture and what not so I think I will be really busy with the house and everything.
I would love to get together with you some time, I understand working around your work schedule thats fine. Just let me know if you and your husband wanna go out and do something some time. I think that would be fun. I gotta get back to packing up our stuff so we can check out of the Westpac today...YAY. lol Ill talk to you later.
