you should go check out the upstairs of that store in American Village with the old Gia fountain and the boobalicious pirate statue out front. I don't know the name ATM. It's on the corner w/ the stoplight. You can't miss it. Anyway, I went upstairs in there once and holy crap (!) it is packed with reconstructed garments. Old plaid button-ups turned into halter tops with a pair of scissors and some contrast stitching, I saw a Chili's shirt turned into something else, skirts made of old ties (love that, jsut didn't love the particular ties), skirts made of other old skirts or pants, on and on. I didn't have time to search and dig through it extensively since I had my 3 year old with me, but I was amazed at the sheer amount of stuff that was up there. The downstairs is just kind of tshirts and knick-nacky crap- just head up the stairs.
Gayle- I think I read somewhere about a knitting group already on here (maybe not OH/Now Serving, but on Okinawa island somewhere). Keep your eye out for that.

Right on Girl.. Gosh I wish my Daughter would have let me bring my fabrics.. I have alot of denim that I re-cycle into some very awesome true hippie skirts and coats. Oh well, I did find the House of 66 cents! That place is awesome! I would like to get this thing going soon, my husband says I act like I am in jail, cuz I don't get out and do things with 'The Girls".. I don't know any of "The Girls" yet! lol...Hey, I do not knit, but I am a mad crocheter and I want to start doing hand embroidery and cut-outs on fabrics again, I also love beading and make some rather beautiful jewelry.. there are lots of things I love to do and would like to learn knitting. I have tried several times but I just don't get it! I want to suprise my 'Stitchin'Bitches' buddies back in the states. That's what they call their group. Cute, huh? My oldest daughter is one of them, she knits beautifully! She also makes some of the cutest little punk-rocker amiguri beings. Those are amazing. Maybe we can do that! Not necessarily punk-rocker style but something!, Well just keep in touch, let me know whats up.. maybe we can get together and meet for lunch soon, you know just to get out 'have some friendly girl lunch'? As you can probably tell I like to talk to strangers, so , lets don't be strangers! ttyl, -V ='v'=

Veronica - that is so awesome... I wish I could bring myself to finally finish getting everything how I want it. Although I did rid myself of a whole lot of stuff on the way here, thank goodness, as well as a ton as I was initially unpacking. I ended up taking an entire large closet of our house for fabric alone, and even have spill-over from that (yeah, I know, yikes). On the plus side, it'll probably make sewing over here cheaper... at least that's what I'll claim. I think I'm going to try setting up a group here and see if anyone wants to do this - not just sewing, but knitting and anything else in that vein.

Alrighty then!!! I cannot believe that since I told on myself to you this morning about my 'crafty' mess, that I actually spent the rest of today until 1/2 an hour ago in that room trying to straighten out that big mess that the packers made for me. I know that it took me so long because before I moved I had it all pretty well organized and knew where everything was. I found all kinds of goodies, most of my tools that I use for making jewelry, lots of buttons all dumped out of their pretty shiny box they used to be in, a little fabric and lot's of thread. I also threw out alot of junk that people keep in their drawers that actually should have been thrown out in the first place...lol...So! alot of stuff got a little organized! OK then, just let me know if this is going to happen and when and I will be totally down with it...Have yourself a great evening and keep in touch please! -V

Veronica - I'm on Foster, not far from the Legion gate - Sada towers. I wouldn't want to walk, but it's a quick drive. ;) Let's see if anyone else is interested, and then I'll email everyone who is so we can figure out a good day/time.

Hi Gayle! This sounds really cool, I have my guest room in a terrible mess with alot of crafting and sewing stuff that I just do not have the motivation to put away or even start projects. I lack a suitable place to put all this stuff, I think I need a chest of drawers and a shelving unit. All that aside, I would love to meet you and get together and do some cursing and sewing, mornings or afternoons are fine with me, I get up way too early for someone who does not have to go to work, just let me know when, give me some easy to follow directions, I live near Foster, Legion Gate..if you want to do this, I can give you my PH#, and you can give me a call. It would be nice to meet someone who shares the same interests, also the potluck thing sounds cool too! TTYL!!-Veronica ='v'=

Is anyone interested in something like a Ladies' Sewing Morning (or afternoon, but then I'd need a babysitter, haha)? I would love to just have some company or even a second pair of eyes while I curse and wield the seam ripper, maybe something to eat or drink during, potluck style.... Any takers? I'll offer to host at the least the first one, quite probably much more than that.

Jeanine - I can pick you up and drop you off if you want. My kids are at Koza Seibo, so I have to be up past Kadena at 8:45 and then back up there at 11:15 to pick the little one up. Just let me know if that's what you'd like to do.
