Hi everyone!

I've been living in Onna Village (about 40km north of Naha) for the past few days. I'd like to find a fitness facility with strength training equipment (free weights and machines would be ideal). Any help would really be appreciated!

Hi there! My family and I will be heading to Okinawa by December 1st. I love fitness and especially anything outdoors. This looks like a great place for outdoor fitness! I spent 14 years in the Marine Corps and left last year after having my second child. I am trying to get back into my Marine Corps shape but it's not as easy this time around! Looking forward to this adventure!

The gym on Foster is pretty large and fairly new. There is a separate cardio room from the weight area.

Hello Everyone. I am not yet in Okinawa but will move in early 2010. I have a personal trainer in Tokyo and love my own workouts too at Golds Gym. I am not affiliated with anyone in the military, nor do I want to travel from Naha area regularly to a base..does anyone know of a good gym with decent selection of elipticals/machines/weights etc?

Extreme Fitness Challenge

Hey everyone! Just wanted to put the word out there that Risner gym is hosting it's EFC! I am one of the trainers for 9:30am timeslot, and would love to see you there!

Up for the challenge? Bring out your competitive side and work with your team through three challenges. At the end of the eight-week EFC, one person will walk away the biggest loser in most weight lost, most inches lost, and the most improved in push-ups, sit-ups, and run time.

REgistration is Saturday, September 5th at 8:00am. Doors open at 7:00am for your early birds!

Hey ladies!! I'm new in this group and although I can't say I'm a fitness fanatic, I would love to be. I am an avid read of Oxygen and love trying the workouts in there... however, I only get to the gym about once a week. Does anyone know of any GREAT personal trainers on island? Or anyone work out at the Risner and need a workout buddy? I need someone to hold me accountable! I've had workout buddies in the past but they all get burnt out and quit on me. I guess I'm just not motivated enough to go on my own accord!

Thank you Ashley for the information. I looked at the website of Zumba. Strange: it didn' reach Germany yet. Zumba must really be an inspiring fitness. Until now I have no car to come from Shuri to Kadena. But I will manage it somehow to show up at a Zumba class at 1 Moore Rep. Until now I do not know how to get in the base without being affiated with the US military or member or or

Recha,

Erna teaches Zumba at Risner and Gunners. She has posted her hours below. Here is a Web site for Zumba: http://www.zumba.com/us/ or you can read about Zumba on Okinawa Hai. It's a really fun cardio class...you should try it if you haven't already.

My clients have gone to Zumba many times, and I recommend and will continue to recommend Zumba, because of the quality and creativity of the instructor, Erna!
