What lawn equipment will we need?

I think I read somewhere that we can "rent" a weed eater and a edger from the self-help store. Is this correct? How much is it to rent them?
We plan on bringing our lawn mower.

I dont believe there is a charge to borrow the lawn equipment but I also dont know exactly what they have to borrow. I have seen the stuff there but didnt pay attention to what they had. If I remember correctly I think they lend it to you for couple of days...someone else may have more experience with this.

You can of course find inexpensive second hand lawn stuff here ALL the time either at the flea markets or on Okinawa Yard Sales...sometimes you get lucky and just find it by the curb like we did (our weedwacker).

I am not sure if you can bring a lawn mower...anyone know? I dont know anyone who brought one that is why I am asking. Again, you can get them here either new at the PX or second hand.

What? You can bring your lawn mower? Why not? Anyone have info on this? This is the first time I've heard of this.
I'd rather not have to buy another new lawn mower.
I'm assuming this all is the same for what ever service you are in.

The lawn mower has to do with how clean it is due to the fact they don't want it introduce any pests that aren't already on the island. I am sure if it was super clean you could bring it - just like a grill. BUT it really is a waste of weight when you can pick up a new or even used one for fairly cheap on island.

Okay, you can't bring your grill either? Is there a list of items somewhere that I can read of what we can't bring? I know we are not to bring a car, that is the only thing I heard for sure about not bringing.

We shipped our grill but my hubby had to super clean it to get it to pass their inspection.
Talk with TMO and they will give you a list of items you allowed to ship over.

Oh and the "renting" from Eagle hardware is harder than you think due to availbility. They don't have a ton of items and I am not even sure if they have lawn mowers. Plus dragging it back and forth in your car would kind of suck.

Hi!

You can bring your lawn mower and grill but they have to be super clean! And all oil and gas has to be emptied out of the mower... At least that's what we were told when we bought our stuff over. Like mentioned before, I don't know if this differs between services? We're AF.

If you move into a tower you will have no need for a lawn mower. They are super serious about the cleanliness of a lawnmower as well. We sold ours to our neighbors before we moved here. Then once we saw what type of housing we were getting we went and bought a self propelled push mower for a couple hundred. The several times I have been in the self help store the only mower I saw was the ancient push mower that just is a blade, you know the super duper old school mowers.
