Just Curious....we just had our Medical screening done and they said it would take a month till we get the results...How long did it take you? BTW, We're coming from USAFE.
I just had mine done last month and it took about 2-3 weeks. I'm not sure because they never notified us. I had my husband call at the 3 week mark to find out. We're Army though so they weren't going to notify us til orders were cut and we aren't going to be getting orders until November. I've heard of it taking anywhere from 2 weeks to a month. More if you have medical issues. Maybe it won't be so long due to PCS off season. I wish you luck.
Thanks Monica:) I was just disappointed when they told us it would take a month...especially since we plan on flying out on the 3rd of January, but if 2-4 weeks is the norm than I guess I can't complain. Thanks again and best of luck to you as well:)
Okay, I just called mental health today and I thought this was good info to post...The person at mental health said that Okinawa has 14 working days to review paperwork and submit their answer from the time they receive it.
You're welcome Monica. Ya, I just had to know for sure cause I waited for a whole month just for the appointment and then to think I had to wait a month again for the results! I was like ugh!
Yes, they have 14 days to review it. But keep on them....After the 14 days we still hadn't gotten ours back. Then she calls to ask a few questions and we sit and wait once more. My husband had to start taking it up higher. We were crunched for time. We lost out of about a weeks leave with family because we were waiting. We already had our renters move their move in date back. Thankfully they were cool with that and didn't need to be out of their place.
Just keep on them.
Samantha, When you say "keep on them", do you mean Okinawa or the base I'm at now? I've been hounding and nagging my poor husband everyday.."Did they call?" "Are you gonna call them?"...etc..lol
I have a question, that sort of fits under this topic. We went yesterday for our medical clearance hearing/meeting. They told us there that Kadena had 14 days to review and respond. My question is this. I am bioplar, moderate at best but still - bipolar. I do well on medication and we know that Kadena provides pediatric and adult mental health...so does anybody know what the odds are of us losing our orders now?

Have you been seen by a psychiatrist? Mental Health is the hardest issue to get clearance on. Even though they have the facilities here to take care of you, it is very difficult to get cleared.
Have I been seen by one for clearance or in general? I have been under medical care for the past almost 10 years. When we went for clearance they said that I would PROBABLY only need a letter from my doc saying that I am stable on meds since I have never had any "major" issues arrise from this.....but now I am scared that we could lose our orders.....
It really depends on who is reviewing your application. I've heard of several people getting denied because the medication they were on was not one of the "normal" meds. So if you are on a specialty med, or one that the base you are at now does not carry (meaning you have to go to a pharmacy in town to get it), you can pretty much expect to be denied.
With that said, I have a history of depression (mostly postpartum, but some regular as well), treatable with zoloft when it flares up, and I was cleared. Zoloft is something they do carry here, so I got a letter from my Dr stating that it worked just fine for me and they said okay.
